Auf diese Fotogallerie über die Trekkingtour von München nach Venedig bin ich gerade im Weg im Web gestoßen. Das zu ganz passend folgender Link: www.muenchenvenedig.de. Habe leider nicht rausfinden können wie der Fotograf heißt … Aber egal. Ich nehme das direkt mal zum Anlass ein paar Bilder (die beiden oben und die nachfolgenden) aus meinem Auslandssemester auf den Kanarischen Inseln zu posten – schließlich sehe ich meine gesamte Studienzeit als eine Art Pilgerreise zu der auch das “Studium” an der Universidad de La Laguna gehört!

HeyWhatsThat ist ein Panorama/Profil Generator für Google Maps/Earth mit diversen Funktionen. Funktionieren tut das Ganze bisher leider nur in den USA. In einer Google Map kann man einen Standort markieren oder aus vorhanden einen auswählen um sich den Panorama-View anzeigen zu lassen. Durch Klick auf “Show Profile” zeigt sich ein Höhenprofil:

Bei der Auswahl eines eigenen Standortes werden einem die nahe liegenden höchsten Punkte als Auswahl angeboten. Sämtliche gespeicherte Standorte können auch in Google Earth betrachtet werden. Bsp: Matterhorn.

Mit dem GPX-Viewer ist es möglich Daten, die mit einem GPS-Gerät aufgezeichnet wurden auszuwerten. Es können GPX-Dateien hochgeladen werden. Im TrackLog enthaltene Routen, Tracks und Wegpunkte werden dann in GoogleMaps graphisch dargestellt. Außerdem werden Informationen wie z.B. Höhenprofil berechnet. Des weiteren ist es möglich Fotos, die unterwegs gemacht wurden dem Track hinzuzufügen (Geotagging). Die Zuordnung hochgeladener Bilder erfolgt über die Auswertung des exif-Aufnahmedatums.

Pilgerschaft ist Suche. Sie wird häufig an einem Krisen- oder Wendepunkt des Lebens begonnen. Man ist unterwegs. Zu Gott. Zu sich. Man erlebt eine innere Befreiung – man ist vorübergehend alle Alltagslasten los, muss sich um nichts kümmern, keine Vorsorge treffen. Pilgern ist Loslassen. Man lernt, wie unwichtig vieles ist, wie viel überflüssige Sorgen und Ängste man mit sich herumschleppt. Man gewinnt innere Freiheit. Pilgern ist Ankommen. Am Ziel. Am heiligen Ort. Pilgern ist auch ein Prozess der Selbstheilung. Man hat seine Fähigkeiten und Grenzen kennengelernt. Man ist gewachsen. Man hat Kraft gewonnen. Innere wie äußere. Das scheinbar Unentbehrliche hat sich als verzichtbar erwiesen. Das Verlorengegangene hat man wiedergefunden: das Vertrauen zu sich selbst, zu seinen Mitmenschen – vielleicht auch zu Gott. We have compiled a current sampling of digital images as a starting point to help you find the right one for your application. GPSBabel converts waypoints, tracks, and routes from one format to another, whether that format is a common mapping format like Delorme, Streets and Trips, or even a serial or USB upload or download to a GPS receiver such as those from Garmin and Magellan. By flattening the Tower of Babel that the authors of various programs for manipulating GPS data have imposed upon us, it returns to us the ability to freely move our own waypoint data between the programs and hardware we choose to use.

In each game, either 9 or 18 waypoints (or golf holes) are created, all centered around a starting point you specify. The exact locations of the holes are chosen at random by computer, with all the unpredictability that presents. Holes might be in suburban neighborhoods or in the middle of wilderness areas. The course creation engine does try to keep the holes out of the ocean.

Then, it’s up to you to see how close you can get to each hole. Your “score” for each hole is determined by how close you get to the exact waypoint. Report the reading on your GPS receiver, in meters, to the computer scorekeeper, which converts the distance into a number of “strokes”. The closer the distance, the fewer the strokes. Two or more Geodashing golfers who live near each other can set up contests to see who can do better on a given course. Or, an individual can compare his score on one course with his score on a different, randomly generated, course in the same area. Or players from around the world can compare their scores against each other, to see which area of the world provides the most accessible (or most challenging) terrain.

Keep in mind that distances can be deceiving. When you’re using your GPS unit to find a cache, the unit only knows how close the site is as the crow flies (a direct line). GPS Visualizer is a free, easy-to-use online utility that creates maps and profiles from GPS data (tracks and waypoints), street addresses, or simple coordinates. Use it to see where you’ve been, plan where you’re going, or visualize geographic data (business locations, scientific observations, events, customers, real estate, geotagging, etc.). GPS Visualizer can draw maps in SVG, JPEG/PNG, and Google Maps format, and can create map overlays and KML files for Google Earth. Als Pultstockspringen (auch Pullstockspringen, Paddstockspringen, Pulsstockspringen, in den Niederlanden Fierljeppen oder Polsstokverspringen) wird der Stabweitsprung über Wasserläufe bezeichnet. Entstehungsgeschichtlich verwurzelt in der nicht vorhandenen Infrastruktur – nicht frei verfügbar, wie heute. Verbreitet ist es in Nordwestdeutschland und den Niederlanden, besonders in den friesischen Gebieten. Da etwa Ostfriesland von sehr vielen Wasserläufen, insbesondere den sogenannten “Tiefs” durchzogen ist, die bis zu acht Meter breit sind, mussten Fußgänger über eine Möglichkeit verfügen, diese trockenen Fußes zu überqueren. Dies geschah mittels drei bis fünf Meter langen Stangen mit einer runden Platte am Ende, den “Pultstöcken”. Sie wurden ähnlich wie beim Stabhochsprung genutzt, allerdings zum Bewältigen von Weiten- und nicht von Höhenmetern. Die Platte am Ende des Stockes verhindert ein Einsinken in den schlammigen Flussgrund. Heute wird das Pultstockspringen fast ausschließlich zu Spaßwettkämpfen oder für Touristen praktiziert. In den Niederlanden findet allerdings jährlich eine Nationale Fierljep Manifestation (NMF) sowie sechs Ligawettbewerbe und Clubmeisterschaften statt. Read the rest of this entry »
