+  * Let us have a look at this scene from Metropolis (1927): In the film's most celebrated sequence Maria is lying in a horizontally cylindrical capsule with wired connections. Rotwang's laboratory is filled with beakers of liquid, dials, switches, flashes electrical circuits and other contraptions which make you think of the 30's Frankenstein films. Sparks of energy create a large ball and form into luminous glowing rings that surround the capsule, and Maria's face dissolves into the face of the android.
