Motor Lab Assignment

The intention of the assignment “Make a Motion like a Person” is that you should play with the several motors that are in your kit, and to experiment how to manipulate motor motion in uncommon ways. As this is an advanced task, you can see it as an experiment. It is not a problem if your motor motion looks creepy at the end. Feel free to attach things to your motors and to move those things around.

A common way for me would be like in the following example: You run your DC motor for a few seconds by turning it on and than abruptly stop it by turning it off again. Visualising this kind of motion in a graph could look like in the picture below:

An uncommon way would be to run a motor like in the graph of the following picture:

Here we start the motor with almost no speed, than drive it faster and faster until it reaches maximum speed. We run it on full speed for another moment before we break the motion in the inversely way. This kind of motion is non-linear and a bit more human-like. Almost like the motion when you lift your arm: slow at the beginning, moving it up it gets a bit faster, but before you reach the highest point you get slower and stop. (Other wise you would outstretch your shoulder, right?). The two curves that you see above are obviously not very impressive but the good thing is that the internet offers some nicer examples to get inspired:
