Conceptual rendering

Das Eyelight ist ein reaktives Leuchtsubjekt. Auf seiner leuchtenden Oberfläche erscheint ein animiertes, suchendes Auge. Es erfasst umstehende Personen und beobachtet diese. Das eigenständige Glühbirnen-Objekt erhellt das Wohnzimmer und lässt tief blicken.

Mit dem Ziel einen Alltagsgegenstand durch subtile Überlagerung einer zusätzlichen Funktionalität ein ganzes Spektrum neuer Dimensionen zu verleihen ist ein Design-Objekt entstanden, das einerseits funktional und einfach zu bedienen, anderseits technisch komplex und auf verschiedenen Ebenen Geschichten erzählt. Das ganze ist kompakt aufgebaut wie eine Glühbirne und extrem einfach zu handhaben – ins Lampengewinde drehen, anschalten, fertig.

Adding a precision control system to an array of high brightness LEDs transforms the ubiquitous object of a light bulb into a end node of a global surveillance system: A restless eye appears and is attracted to any nearby movement to gaze onto and analyze it. This eye appears by subtle brightness variations inside the lamp; it is in a transitional stage, intangible, unreal, but certainly there, silently watching the scene it illuminates. The poles of this dichotomic object are lamp and display, illuminating and absorbing, outward and inward.
