Sealevel Change Demonstrator

A prediction on the status of Abu Dhabi's shoreline up to the year 2300 based on mathematical models and high emissions scenarios.

The Center for Global Sea Level Change at New York University Abu Dhabi predicts the status of Abu Dhabi’s shoreline up to the year 2300 based on mathematical models and high emissions scenarios. The NTSI Lab's team around Prof Felix Beck consolidated available data and information to translate those into a media installation presented at Glimpses exhibition (NYUAD Art Gallery, 14.–27. October 2019). 1500 individual frames are superimposed with a CNC milled wooden relief model of the topography of Abu Dhabi to visualise the incremental change in shoreline over time in a looping video sequence.
